What is IKARUS Scan Center?
An IKARUS Scan Center is a centrally hosted infrastructure in which
anti-virus and spam filtering services for E-Mails (IKARUS Managed
Security Services) are operated. Optionally a service provider can
decide whether he/she wants to run his/her own "IKARUS Scan
Center" on his/her NOC, or
make use the existing IKARUS Scan Center that is managed at VIX-2
in Vienna.
Description of IKARUS Scan Center:
The IKARUS Scan Center is hosted at VIX-2
(Interxion) in Vienna, supervised and maintained by IKARUS staff.
Clustered and load-balanced firewalls are used to guarantee the
security requirements. Technologies such as hardened operating systems,
physically separated VLANs, high availability with assistance of
hot standby failovers, Heartbeat Monitoring etc. are facts which
convince both SMEs and also big enterprises such as banks and insurance
companies. In the meantime individual ISPs have already rerouted
their entire e-mail traffics over the IKARUS Scan Center to be safe
from computer viruses and spam.

The IKARUS Scan Center comprises of:

(All these functions are naturally redundant and scalable.)

Update Cycle
The IKARUS Scan Center uses the push strategy to update the
most current virus database files, scanner and spam filtering rules.
The decoded transmission of files is done over SMTP.
Installation / Enabling
The solution is pre-installed on "Secureguard" server
which will be initiated by IKARUS MSS service provider. Maintenance
and configuration will be taken care of byIKARUS MSS service provider
and IKARUS Software.
Should a service provider run service reselling and use IKARUS's
infrastructure for this purpose, there is no cost applied.
